Feedback from Denver “The Loft Tapes” Local Release

View the article from The Longmont Times- Call

“The Congress, a Denver rock trio that is one of those groups about which everyone seems to be saying, “Yeah, they’re good,” has developed a following for its cut-to-the-chase style of rock ‘n’ roll and singer Jonathan Meadows’ versatile voice.”

“Holy shit!”

View the article from CMJ..

“The Loft Tapes shows up at a solid No. 5 position on KRFC’s top 30 playlist this week. The group’s laid-back groove captures a sound that is at once modern and reminiscent of the good old days of Motown recordings.”

“Here is Colorado’s answer to the Black Keys.”

View the article from Westword..

“The band sounds laid back and super groovy, like they’re feeling the music rather than merely playing it. Not only did the dudes nail it here, but some of their versions rival the originals.”

View the article from Marquee Magazine

“Looking back at my notepad – soggy, crumpled and full of scribbled down thoughts from last night’s The Congress EP release show at The Bluebird Theater – I’m struck that I find myself reflecting on not just the evening’s music, but especially the atmosphere and “good time” camaraderie that the Denver-based group has cultivated around their music.”

View the article from MusicMarauders

“This recording, which was done over the course of a week last January in Berthoud, Colorado at an old Masonic Temple, shows a level of maturity and elegance that is simply arresting.”

View the article from Listen Up Denver

“It’s the old-south hymnal hospitality and good-gracious gospel stylings of lead vocalist and bassist Jonathan Meadows that steal the show on [The Loft Tapes]”

View the article from the Tahoe Daily Tribune

“Lake Tahoe Action once compared vocalist Jonathan Meadows to Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. Make that Stevie Wonder with a ballcap and a bushy red beard.”
